Yorkshire “success story” Rogers Geotechnical Services (RGS) Ltd is reporting strong trading figures from January to June 2015 and projecting a 30 per cent growth annually.

The family-run business – which last year marked “a decade of drilling” – continues to build its business following global recession and now employs 22 members of staff; an increase of three from last year.

The company, based at Barncliffe Business Park in Shelley, Huddersfield, has notched up a number of successes in the past six months, including:

  • Logging its 5,000th enquiry since Operations Director Chay Rogers established RGS over a decade ago with just one rig, a single engineer and a small laboratory.
  • Passing recent audit inspections with flying colours, including the ISO 9001 (Quality Management System) and 14001 (Environmental Management System). In the case of the 9001 system this is for the 11th year running.
  • Winning the Eaton Smith Law Firm’s Business of the Month.
  • Continuing to support the local economy by creating employment and offering work experience and graduate jobs to Yorkshire’s young people.

RGS’ Managing Director Emma Lewis said, “I am delighted to report that we are very close to achieving £1m in turnover by month nine of the year, so we are on target to hit budgets and are likely to exceed them.  Anticipated growth for the year based on the past nine months’ trading is 30%, which is very encouraging. We continue to have a very strong varied client base, with no reliance on any single client or contract.

“Looking ahead, current tender numbers and values are higher than previous years, and are certainly more consistent month on month.  We are therefore anticipating the orders to continue coming in strongly for the rest of the year.

“We attribute RGS’ success to our emphasis on expertise and professionalism, combined with good old-fashioned family values including honesty, consistency, competitiveness and straightforward pricing and first-class service. We are driven by a team of directors who work in the business every day, supported by highly motivated and loyal staff.  It’s very much a team effort.

“Our client base remains strong in Yorkshire and the North of England but we continue to attract new business from all over the UK, which is very encouraging.”
