Our Process: Four Phases of Service

We provide a comprehensive, structured approach that guides clients through every stage of the site investigation and remediation process, which goes as follows:

Desk Study

Our Phase 1 Desk Study pulls together historical and environmental data about a site, including previous land uses and potential sources of contamination. We then carry out a walkover survey to verify and supplement this information. This stage helps identify any likely environmental risks and informs the scope of further investigation.

Site Investigation

Our drilling teams extract soil and rock samples using techniques suited to the ground conditions and project requirements. These samples are analysed in our laboratory for both geotechnical properties and potential contamination. The results help define foundation requirements, assess slope stability, and determine what (if any) remedial action may be needed.

Remediation Strategy

If contamination is found, we produce a clear, practical Remediation Strategy outlining the steps required to make the site safe for development. This document becomes a reference throughout the construction process, ensuring regulatory compliance and protecting future site users.

Validation Report

Once remediation works have been completed, we produce a Validation Report to confirm that all actions set out in the strategy have been followed and the desired outcomes achieved. 

Insitu Testing: Fast, Accurate Results Without Disruption

Certain soil and rock types must remain undisturbed for accurate analysis. That’s why we offer a comprehensive range of insitu testing services that allow us to assess ground conditions on site, with minimal disruption and no need for transportation of samples.

Our insitu testing services include:

• Infiltration (Soakaway) Testing - To assess the rate at which water drains through the soil, vital for sustainable drainage design.

• California Bearing Ratio (CBR) Testing - Used for the design of roads and pavements.

• Plate Load Testing - Determines the bearing capacity and settlement of soils under load.

• Hand Shear Vane and Mexicone Testing - Quick and effective ways to estimate undrained shear strength, especially in cohesive soils.

• Insitu Density Testing - Helps evaluate the compaction and strength of soil layers.

These on-the-spot tests offer immediate feedback and can significantly streamline your site investigation programme.
